I am directed by Seely Chamberlain. But I request your Excellency to inform the Marquess of Lansdowne that the Hongkong Military Contribution for 1898 is estimated at $426,976, being 17½ per cent of the Revenue (less Land Sales) which is estimated to amount to $2,439,867.
